Gerard Conlan

llb (hons), PARTNER

Gerard graduated with honours in law from the University of Melbourne, and was admitted to practice 1971.

First employed for a brief period at a city law firm he was, unusually, granted the right to private practice within the firm which enabled him to build his own clientele in varied fields of law.

After forty years of practice, Gerard has developed a broad expertise in the law, with a special concern for its commercial applications. In 1990, Gerard was among the first accredited as a business law specialist by the Law Institute of Victoria.

Aside from the law, Gerard’s other great interest is sport, and cricket in particular. Over several decades he has built a vast library of books, ‘cigarette cards’, and other sporting memorabilia.

Elizabeth Cummings

Elizabeth completed an Arts degree at the University of Melbourne, majoring in history, before enrolling in Law. She graduated from Monash University with a Bachelor of Laws in 2004.

Elizabeth worked with the firm as a law clerk during her university days before commencing practice as a lawyer in 2005. During her first years of practice, Elizabeth enjoyed the breadth of experience offered by general commercial practice. Today, that commercial foundation assists Elizabeth in providing clients with insightful and strategic advice in family law, estate planning and estate administration.

Elizabeth became a partner of the firm, alongside her father and mentor, Gerard, in January 2016.

Outside of work, Elizabeth loves to amble around Melbourne, pursuing her passion for shopping and food.

Simon Curry

LLB (HONS), Lawyer

Simon qualified as a solicitor in England after studying law at the University of Warwick. In 2010, Simon moved to Australia, and joined Conlan Cummings as a solicitor in 2011.

Simon has a special interest in business law and disputes. His aim is to identify the real issues between the parties at an early stage, ensuring the right steps are taken early on to obtain the best result for his clients – whether settlement strategy or court action.

Away from the office, Simon enjoys reading, writing, and walking, when he can find the time to spare.

Caroline Khoury

LLB (HONS), Lawyer

Graduating from Victoria University in 2007, Caroline has spent the past decade practising in all areas of family law, representing clients in both the Family Court and the Federal Circuit Court. With an understanding that seeking assistance from a family lawyer can be a daunting and stressful experience, she aims always to provide practical, tailored and outcome oriented advice.

Caroline has a strong interest in resolving matters outside of court, but, where it becomes necessary, her years of experience can be drawn upon to achieve the best possible outcome.

Out of hours, Caroline enjoys exploring Melbourne with her husband and daughters. She enjoys reading, and is a self-proclaimed ‘foodie’ who loves to explore regional Victoria for local cuisine.

Jo Richmond

With fifteen years' experience in the legal industry, Jo first joined Conlan Cummings in 2001. She enjoys direct contact with clients most often through conveyancing, but her role continues to evolve and her work also covers: assisting with wills and enduring powers of attorney, establishment of shelf companies, drafting and preparation of ASIC forms, probate, estate administration and debt recovery.

Jo is well versed in the processes and requirements of the State Revenue Office and Land Registry, and assists not only vendors and purchasers but now acts for a major Australian financial institution in the preparation and registrations of its mortgages.

Jo possesses excellent attention to detail, and thrives on the challenges and responsibilities involved in her senior position. She's also an enthusiastic cook and is always on the hunt for a new recipe book to add to her collection.
